S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Call of Pripyat transports PC players back to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which erupted in 1986. This so-called "Zone" is a severely polluted region that the military has walled off and is now being searched through by so-called stalkers, contemporary fortune seekers, in quest of unique items. The player assumes the character of Agent Alexander Degtyarev, who is disguised as a stalker, and is tasked with investigating the strange disappearance of five military helicopters while defending himself against various stalker organizations.

The latest installment of the most internationally successful S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series perfectly links to the first part of the Shadow of Chernobyl, with over 2 million copies sold.
